The Indian Army’s Remount Veterinary Corps (RVC) is a specialized branch responsible for the breeding, training, and healthcare of military animals, including horses, dogs, and mules. The RVC plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational readiness of these animals, which are vital for reconnaissance, logistics, and combat support in challenging terrains.
The Indian Army invites applications from qualified male and female veterinary graduates for Short Service Commission (SSC) in the RVC. This is an excellent opportunity to serve the nation while leveraging veterinary expertise in a unique military environment.
Age Limit: 21–32 years (as of 26 May 2025).
Permanent Commission (PC) Consideration: Only for candidates below 30 years at SSC grant.
Educational Qualification:
BVSc / BVSc & AH from a recognized university (as per Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984).
Internship must be completed before applying.
Nationality:
Indian citizens / Nepalese subjects / Persons of Indian origin (eligibility certificate required for non-Indians).
Total Posts: 20 (Male: 17 | Female: 03).
Step 1: Initial screening of applications.
Step 2: SSB Interview (Services Selection Board).
Step 3: Medical Examination (fit/unfit decision is final).
Final Merit List: Based on SSB performance only.
Rank on Commissioning: Captain (Level 10B Pay Matrix).
Training Location: RVC Centre & College, Meerut Cantt.
Ante-date Seniority:
12 months for MVSc holders.
24 months for PhD holders.
Promotions:
SSC Officers: Up to Lt Col.
Permanent Commission (PC) Officers: Up to Colonel (TS).
Pay Scale:
Basic Pay: ₹61,300 (Level 10B).
Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500.
Non-Practice Allowance (NPA): 20% of basic pay.
