About the Organization:
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, established under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001. BEE is dedicated to promoting energy efficiency and conservation across the country. Its mission is to develop policies and strategies to reduce energy intensity in the Indian economy, ensuring sustainable growth and environmental protection. The Director General serves as the Chief Executive Authority, leading BEE’s initiatives to achieve national energy efficiency goals.

Location: New Delhi, India
Pay Scale: Level-15 (Rs. 182,200–224,100) as per the 7th CPC Pay Matrix
Employment Type: Deputation/Short-Term Contract (5 years or until age 60, whichever is earlier)

Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Strategy:
- Serve as the Chief Executive Authority of BEE, overseeing the implementation of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001.
- Formulate policies and roadmaps for energy efficiency, conservation, and standardization.
- Provide strategic direction to achieve BEE’s objectives under the guidance of the Governing Council.
- Operational Management:
- Ensure effective execution of BEE’s programs, including standards development, labeling, and certification.
- Exercise powers under Section 52 of the Act to obtain critical information for policy decisions.
- Represent BEE in national and international forums to promote energy efficiency initiatives.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with Central/State Governments, PSUs, and private organizations to drive energy efficiency measures.
- Foster partnerships with research institutions and industry bodies for innovation in energy management.
- Compliance & Reporting:
- Monitor compliance with energy conservation regulations and report to the Ministry of Power.
- Ensure transparency in operations and adherence to governmental guidelines.
Eligibility Criteria:
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Educational: Graduate in Engineering OR Post-Graduate in Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Geology/Geophysics/Energy Studies/Management/Economics.
- Experience:
- 25 years of service in Central/State Government (Group ‘A’) with 3 years in Level-14 (Pay Matrix 7th CPC) OR
- 25 years of post-qualification experience in PSUs/autonomous/private organizations, including 5 years at a senior level.
- Proven expertise in energy production, management, and conservation.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Post-Graduate Engineering/Doctorate in relevant fields.
- Experience in energy policy formulation or planning.
Age Limit: Maximum 58 years as of the application closing date.
