About the Position
The Staff Car Driver (Ordinary Grade) role in the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare ensures safe and efficient transportation for government officials. The Ministry has notified revised Recruitment Rules (2025) to standardize qualifications and hiring processes, superseding the 2023 rules.
Key Recruitment Rules
- Eligibility Criteria:
- Educational: Matriculation pass.
- Skills:
- Valid driving license for motor cars.
- 3+ years of driving experience.
- Basic motor mechanism knowledge (ability to fix minor defects).
- Age Limit: 18–27 years (relaxable up to 40 for govt. employees/56 for deputation).
- Recruitment Methods:
- Priority: Deputation/Absorption from existing Group ‘C’ employees (e.g., Despatch Riders).
- Fallback: Direct recruitment (including Ex-Servicemen).
- Probation: 2 years.
- Disqualification: Polygamy (unless exempted under personal law).
Selection Process
- Committee:
- Director/Deputy Secretary (Personnel) – Chairperson.
- Two Under Secretaries (Personnel & General Administration) – Members.
- Driving Test: Mandatory for all candidates.

- SC/ST candidates may receive experience relaxations.
- UPSC consultation not required.
