The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) is a premier constitutional body responsible for recruiting qualified candidates for various government positions in the state. This recruitment drive aims to fill 10 posts of Horticulture Development Officer in the Department of Horticulture, contributing to the state’s agricultural and horticultural development.

Job Description

HPPSC invites applications for the position of Horticulture Development Officer on a contract basis. The role involves planning, implementing, and monitoring horticulture development programs to enhance productivity and sustainability in the state.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement horticulture development schemes and programs.
• Provide technical guidance to farmers for improving crop yield and quality.
• Conduct field visits and inspections to monitor horticulture projects.
• Prepare reports and maintain records of horticulture activities.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Essential Qualifications:
  • M.Sc. in Horticulture/Agriculture in disciplines like Pomology, Floriculture, Post-Harvest Technology, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Biotechnology, or related fields.
  • B.Sc. (Horticulture) in a four-year degree program.
• Age Limit: 18–45 years (relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Ex-Servicemen of HP).

Desirable Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Himachal Pradesh’s customs, dialects, and suitability for working in the state.

Selection Process:

1. Screening Test (CBT):
   • Paper-I: General Knowledge (HP, National, International), Hindi, English (100 marks).
   • Paper-II: Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test (120 marks).
2. Personality Test (Interview) for shortlisted candidates.

• SC/ST/EWS-BPL (HP): ₹150
• Female/PwD/Ex-Servicemen (HP): Exempted
