Job Description
Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – 1 Vacancy
Project Title: “Investigating role of (a) radial and lateral viscosity changes & (b) Non-Newtonian rheology on intraplate stresses in mantle convection models”
Funding Agency: Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India
Duration: Initially 1 year (extendable based on performance, co-terminus with the project).
Salary: ₹31,000/month + 16% HRA.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct numerical modeling of mantle convection using finite element codes.
- Implement simulations in C, Python, and UNIX-based systems.
- Analyze data related to geophysics, fluid dynamics, and solid earth sciences.
- Collaborate with the research team to publish findings.
Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualifications:
- Engineering Candidates:
- B.Tech/B.E/M.Tech/M.E in Mechanical/Civil Engineering, Engineering Physics, or related fields.
- Minimum 60% marks (or 6.5/10 CGPA) from Class XII onwards.
- Valid GATE score preferred.
- Science Candidates:
- M.Sc/M.Tech in Geology, Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or allied fields.
- Minimum 60% marks (or 6.5/10 CGPA) from Class XII onwards.
- Valid GATE/NET score preferred.
- PhD candidates who have submitted their thesis may also apply.
Desired Skills:
- Basic knowledge of numerical modeling, fluid dynamics, and coding (C/Python).
- Familiarity with UNIX-based systems.
Age Limit:
- Maximum 28 years (relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/women/PwD candidates).
