Job Description

About the Organization:
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, is the apex agency for combating drug trafficking and abuse in India. It enforces the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and coordinates with national/international agencies to curb illicit drug trade.

Position Details:

  • Post: Inspector (Group-B, Non-Gazetted)
  • Vacancies: 94 (All-India)
  • Locations: Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Goa, etc. (See full list in PDF)
  • Pay Scale: Level-7 (7th CPC) – ₹93,300–34,800 + GP ₹4,600 (pre-revised).
  • Employment Type: Deputation (initial 3 years, extendable to 7 years).
  • Age Limit: Max 56 years (as of application closing date).

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Enforcement & Investigation:
    • Implement NDPS Act, conduct raids, seizures, and arrests.
    • Lead financial investigations and intelligence operations.
  2. Legal & Coordination:
    • Initiate trials, attend court proceedings, and coordinate with law enforcement agencies.
  3. Preventive Actions:
    • Destroy illicit drug crops (opium/cannabis) and conduct demand-reduction activities.
  4. Training & Outreach:
    • Train personnel from other agencies on drug law enforcement.

Eligibility Criteria:

Essential:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
  • Experience:
    • 5 years in Level-6 (7th CPC) or equivalent.
    • 3 years in enforcing regulatory laws (e.g., narcotics, economic offenses).

Desirable:

  • 1 year of experience in criminal/economic offense investigations.
