The High Court of Andhra Pradesh is the highest judicial authority in the state of Andhra Pradesh, responsible for administering justice and upholding the rule of law. The High Court of Andhra Pradesh is conducting a recruitment drive to fill 14 vacancies for the post of District Judge (Entry Level) under the direct recruitment quota. This is a prestigious opportunity for qualified legal professionals to serve in the state judiciary and contribute to the administration of justice.

Job Details:

The High Court of Andhra Pradesh is inviting applications for the post of District Judge (Entry Level) under the Direct Recruitment (25% quota). The selected candidates will be appointed to the Andhra Pradesh State Judicial Service.

  • OC: 04 (including 1 post for Women)
  • EWS: 02 (including 1 post for Women)

  • BC-B: 02 (including 1 post for Women)

Pay Scale: ₹1,44,840 – ₹1,94,660

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Qualifications:

  • The candidate must have been practicing as an Advocate for not less than 7 years as of the date of notification (12.03.2025) and must continue to practice at the time of appointment.
  • Full-time salaried Law Officers in the employment of the Central/State Government or Public Corporations are not eligible.

2. Age Limit:

  • Minimum Age: 35 years
  • Maximum Age: 45 years (as of 01.03.2025)
  • Age Relaxation: 3 years for SC/ST/EWS/BC candidates.

3. Character and Fitness:

  • The candidate must have a good character and be free from any infirmity that renders them unfit for the appointment.
  • Candidates with a history of dismissal, conviction for moral turpitude, or disqualification by any High Court or Public Service Commission are not eligible.

Selection Process:

The selection process consists of the following stages:

  1. Screening Test (if applicable):
    • Marks: 100 (100 multiple-choice questions)
    • Duration: 2 hours
    • Candidates who secure 40% or above will be shortlisted for the written examination in a ratio of 1:10.
  2. Written Examination:
    • Papers:
      • Paper-I: Constitution and Civil Law (100 marks)
      • Paper-II: Criminal Law (100 marks)
      • Paper-III: English (Translation and Essay Writing) (100 marks)
    • Duration: 3 hours per paper
    • Minimum Marks Required:
      • OC/EWS: 55% in Paper-I & II, 60% aggregate
      • BC: 50% in Paper-I & II, 55% aggregate
      • SC/ST: 45% in Paper-I & II, 50% aggregate
  3. Viva Voce:
    • Marks: 50
    • Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for the viva voce in a ratio of 1:3.
  4. Final Merit List:
    • The final selection will be based on the aggregate marks obtained in the written examination and viva voce.
