Job Description

Position: Assistant Director (Physics & Ballistics)
Department: Directorate of Forensic Services, Home Department, Himachal Pradesh
Number of Posts: 01 (Unreserved)
Employment Type: Contract Basis (Gazetted, Class-I)
Pay Scale: Level-21 (Rs. 67,400 – 2,01,200)

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research, training, and analytical work in Physics, Ballistics, or allied forensic fields.
• Oversee forensic examinations related to ballistic evidence and physical sciences.
• Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to provide expert insights and reports.
• Ensure compliance with scientific protocols and maintain accurate records for legal proceedings.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree (2nd Class) in Physics/Mathematics/Forensic Science (specialization in Forensic Physics & Ballistics) from a recognized university.
2. 7 years of post-M.Sc. experience in research, training, or analytical work in relevant fields. (Research for Ph.D. counted as experience.)

Desirable Qualification:

• Knowledge of Himachal Pradesh’s customs, dialects, and local conditions.

Age Limit: 18–45 years (as of 01-01-2025). Relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD/Ex-Servicemen (HP residents) as per norms.

Selection Process

1. Screening Test (CBT):
   • General Knowledge (HP + National/International Affairs) – 60 Marks
   • Hindi & English Language – 40 Marks
2. Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test (SAT) – 120 Marks
3. Personality Test – 30 Marks

Minimum passing marks:

• SAT: 35% (General), 30% (Reserved)
• Personality Test: 40% (General), 30% (Reserved)
